Reading Spine

At Osborne, we want all of our pupils to experience a broad range of engaging, vocabulary rich and thought provoking texts. In addition to the texts our pupils are exposed to through English and Shared Reading lessons, our pupils are read a text from Pie Corbett’s Reading Spine daily.

Pie Corbett’s Reading Spine has been designed so that over the seven years that pupils attend Osborne, they have the opportunity to read, enjoy and discuss seventy core books. These books help to build our pupils’ imaginations and support them in learning to read expressively.

The Arthur Terry Learning Partnership is committed to keeping our students safe, both in school and the wider community. The agreement is compliant with Crime & Disorder Act 1998 (s.115) and Data Protection Act 1998(s.29.3; s.35.2.), and focuses on preventing young people from becoming involved or further involved in crime and anti-social behaviour as a victim or offender.
