Mental Health & Wellbeing
At Osborne Primary School we are committed to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of every member of our school community. We believe mental health is just as important as physical health and that, through a nurturing and supportive environment, children and families can thrive.
What We Do to Promote Mentally Healthy Minds
We take a whole-school approach to wellbeing. As a trauma-informed and attachment-aware school, we support the emotional needs of our pupils with compassion and understanding.
Our approach includes:
- Weekly PSHE Lessons to help children explore emotions, relationships, and build resilience.
- Wellbeing Assemblies focused on kindness, emotional awareness, and mental health.
- My Happy Mind programme to support positive mental habits and emotional regulation.
- Targeted Mentoring and 1:1 support for pupils who need extra emotional support.
- Calm Spaces in Every Classroom so children can self-regulate in a safe, quiet area.
- Break and Lunchtime Calm Zones for those who need time away from busy playground environments.
- A dedicated Mental Health & Wellbeing Team for both children and adults.
- A Family Support Worker who supports parents and carers with practical advice, emotional support, and referrals to external services.
Our Mental Health Team:
- Mrs Lisa Dodd, Adult Mental Health First Aider/Lead
- Mrs Lorraine Adolphe, School Mental Health Lead
- Mrs Stephanie Field, SENCo
- Miss Natalie Burman, Children’s Mental Health First Aider
